Cassia Javanica tree description

Cassia Javanica (Apple Blossom) is a semi-deciduous tree taking its species name from the Indonesian island of Java, where it is native.

Apple blossom tree is of small to moderate size, typically 25 feet tall, but can be taller. The tannin-rich bark is gray and smooth, with former branch scars. It has a broad, flat-topped, moderately dense crown with drooping somewhat brittle branches. In addition, leaves are pinnate, alternate, up to 27 inches long with pairs of opposite, glossy, elliptical to oblong leaflets, 1-2 x 3/4-1 inches. Also, it is briefly deciduous around the time of flowering.

Likewise, apple blossom aromatic flowers are borne in clusters up to 7 inches long with numerous blooms which resemble apple blossoms. Butterflies and other insects are pollinators. One of the common uses for the pods is in traditional medicine.

The lumber is good for general construction and furniture.
